Meet The People You Will Be Working With

Dr. Tamer Wassef

MD

Dr. Wassef is a board-certified psychiatrist, specializing in adult psychiatry. Dr. Wassef completed his fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. He has more than 15 years of experience in Treating mental illness and addiction . He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for addiction and general psychiatry. , He is also board certified in addiction medicine. He also has the distinction of being a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He was serving as Chief of Psychiatry and chairman for psychiatry department at RWJ Barnabas Somerville Hospital. Dr. Wassef has lectured nationally on resistant depression, substance abuse treatment and pain management in chemically dependent patients, and has published several journal articles on severe anxiety, bipolar treatment and treatment of chronic resistant depression.

Dr. Benjamin Crocker

MD

Dr. Benjamin Crocker is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist living in Portland, ME. Dr. Crocker completed a residency at Los Angeles County – U S C Medical Center. Dr. Crocker has worked for the last 30 years to change the vision of mental health treatment. He has worked closely with Bishop Health to develop an integrative MH IOP program that will serve the Greater Portland Community.

Sarah McVicar

LCPC, LADC

Sarah received her MS in Co-occurring Disorders Recovery Counseling from Metropolitan State University. She draws on her experience working in outpatient and community-based settings with funny, resilient, and courageous individuals with a wide range of co-occurring substance use, trauma-related, and other mental health disorders. Prior to becoming a therapist, Sarah served as a Recovery Navigator and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).

Gabrielle Bowker

F-NP

Gabrielle is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in addiction medicine. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and the University of Maine in 2011, and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in 2019. She holds a national certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Aronson Kobacker

Executive Director

Aronson was born in California and raised in Massachusetts where he attended Northeastern University. Having worked in the Health and Human Services field since 2015, Aronson’s goal has always been to provide compassionate, comprehensive care for those in need. Through his work in the field, he has found that there are many paths to achieving a desired outcome, and this belief has led him to work in outpatient mental health with a focus on providing modern modalities for those with treatment resistant psychiatric disorders.

Bobby Taylor

LMSW-CC, LADC

Bobby received his master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of New England in 2022 after obtaining an undergraduate degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Southern Maine. With experience in emergency medical services, mental health, child and family services, and substance use, Bobby believes in autonomy and a client-centered approach. He focuses on present feelings, emotions, and circumstances in pursuit of balance and fulfillment by using a person-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused approach while using a variety of coping skills from CBT and DBT.

Allison Hart

LCPC, CADC

Allison received her MS in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2015. With over 17 years of field experience, Allison believes that the client is the expert on themselves and sees her role as that of a facilitator, guide, and teacher. Allison has experience with integrating CBT, DBT, and other modalities into trauma-informed practice. Utilizing a holistic, mindful, and trauma-informed approach, she strives to hold a safe space in which a person can find their own answers. When not at her practice, Allison enjoys time with her loved ones, caring for her many plants, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing disc golf, spending time at the beach or in nature, and traveling any chance she gets. Allison is passionate about social justice and operates from a strengths-based empowerment perspective that seeks to honor and empower those who feel marginalized and/or experience discrimination.

Mary Kate Fitzgerald

TMS TECHNICIAN
MK moved to Maine in 2021 to begin working in the mental health and substance abuse fields. After teaching high school for most of her twenties, MK realized her true passion lies in helping others find relief from their mental health and addiction struggles. MK is a certified TMS technician, will be obtaining a Master’s in Social Work.  She aims to bring her skill set to schools and adolescents.

Milana Austin

Milana Austin is originally from Idaho but moved to Maine in 2019 to pursue a life of sobriety and recovery. Through personal and professional growth, she has developed a passion for helping others and is excited to expand her knowledge in the field of mental health. Milana is a certified TMS technician and is working as Bishop Health’s Practice Coordinator. When not working, Milana can be found exploring New England or enjoying a good book.

Jordan Levesque

CTMST

Jordan Levesque is a Certified Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Technician (TMS). She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Saint Anselm College in 2019 and plans to obtain a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Jordan has a passion for mental health and wants to use her experiences to become a trauma-informed Child Psychologist.

Melissa White

CLINICAL DIRECTOR
LCPC, CADC, CCS

Melissa received her MS in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2011 and she was doing work in the field before she received her MS. With over 15 years of field experience in an array of places she comes to Bishop with a multitude of expertise in mental health and addictions.  Melissa believes that the client is the one in charge of their journey, and she is there to help guide in the process and sees her role as that of a facilitator and guide.

Melissa is intensively trained in DBT and CBT as well other modalities that are trauma informed. She also holds a substance use license and background that helps clients with co-occurring struggles. She utilizes a more mindful balanced approach to help create a safe space for clients. When not working Melissa enjoys time with her husband and 2 children, spending time at the beach or in nature, and camping.
